BUDS is a cost share grant scheme that has been designed to increase on the competitiveness of the private sector firms through the use of business development services. BUDS has since 1995 supported over 1450 MSMEs with cost share grants towards injection of know how through training and use of business support services (BDS).

A dynamic economy needs inputs in the form of new ideas, new products, processes, enthusiasm and skills of new and old entrepreneurs. Achieving this objective however, requires many changes and improvements in the way that Uganda’s economy and society operate, but one of the areas where private firms can have most impact is in the access of affordable businesses support services through which businesses are created, can address their individual business growth challenges and develop their competitive activities.

Therefore we, at BUDS are committed to being the best in grants management and supporting your business’ dreams and aspirations. And, we will always ensure that we are at the forefront of new BDS developments and in identifying solutions to your business challenges.

For 2006-2010, we are glad to let you know that our team has grown from 2 Scheme Officers to 6 in order to deal with the growing demand for our services. Secondly, in-order to meet the growing challenges of businesses we are introducing new grant products and these include; (i)Business Plan Competition (BPC), (ii) financial management (FM) for MSMEs, (iii) the Technology Acquisition Fund (TAF), (iv) the Better Business Behaviour Award scheme(BBBA), (v)the Business Branding Linkage (BBL) program and (vi) the Enterprise Skills Linkage (ESL) program.

BUDS is managed by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda as part of its strategy to help the economic development of Uganda.
